Nutty Narrows Bridge on September 5, 2005.
The Nutty Narrows Bridge was originally built by local contractor and philanthropist Amos J. Peters over Olympia Way to give squirrels a way to get across the street safely. It was dedicated on March 19, 1963. Its name alludes to the famous Tacoma Narrows Bridge. After the original trees it was anchored to were removed due to disease, it was relocated above Louisiana near the library to give the squirrels a way to get to and from R. A. Long Park without being run over by traffic around the Civic Circle.
The Nutty Narrows Bridge has since been moved to 18th and Olympia Way, near its original location.
