Brothers Werner and Eugene Breyman probably purchased this property in the early 1900s, around the time they bought the land immediately to the south. They constructed this three-story building in 1910, replacing a row of four one-and-one-half story wood-frame buildings. The first business to occupy the building was the Buren & Hamilton furniture and carpet store. Clarence S. Hamilton came to Oregon in 1891 from Jacksonville, Illinois, and in 1894 he entered the furniture business with Max O. Buren. The Buren and Hamilton partnership ended in 1916, and Hamilton continued on in the furniture business until his death in 1944, operating as the C.S. Hamilton Furniture Company. The New Breyman Building housed the Elfstrom & Eyre Department Store in the early 1950s, then housed the Roberts Brothers Department Store into the 1960s. The building remained in the Breyman estate through at least the mid-20th century. It is now the home of Sid's Home Furnishings.
