This 4,060-square-foot concrete building was constructed in 1938. The architect is unknown. An addition and carport were later added to the west side of the building.

The Carpentry Shop was scheduled to become the temporary home of the Sustainable Living Center and the Pringle Creek Community sales office while the Painters' Hall was renovated. It would then be renovated into a LEED Platinum restaurant and deli with outdoor dining.

When I visited the building, it was empty and appeared to look very much like it did when it was abandoned.

The interior had been cleaned up so the building could be used for presentations, though there was no one around.

The building’s original doors and windows remained unaltered and some of the shop furnishings were still there.

The Carpentry Shop was originally located next to the heating plant, which has since been demolished.

The tall brick smokestack that was once attached to the heating plant still stood as a prominent feature of the former Fairview site that was becoming the Pringle Creek Community.
