In 2008, the University of Oregon became the building’s primary tenant, and proposed changing the sign to read “University of Oregon,” which proved to be controversial, as did a 2009 proposal to change the sign to read simply “Oregon” and adding the university’s “O” logo to the adjacent water tower.
