This 1920 Doane Stakebed Transfer Truck is powered by a 48-horsepower Waukesha 491 cubic inch 4-cylinder engine with a 3-speed transmission and has a load capacity of 12,000 pounds. The operator's manual warns "Operation of this vehicle at speeds in excess of 20 miler per hour voids the manufacturer's warranty."

This chain-drive truck, built in San Francisco, was used by the Oregon Transfer Company to deliver freight from ship docks to retailers like Meier & Frank. A winch behind the cab was used to drag heavy crates on board.

Later, this truck was used by Portland's Marine Electric Company. It was restored by Foglio's Fire & Iron Collection, Milwaukie, Oregon.
