1919 Samson 3/4-Ton Flatbed Truck on August 3, 2008

Samson Tractor Company of Janesville, Wisconsin was General Motors President William Durant's attempt to compete with Ford and International Harvester in the mechanized farm equipment market, building farm tractors as well as 3/4-ton and 1-1/4-ton farm trucks using the same engines and transmissions as Chevrolet cars.

This 1919 Samson 3/4-Ton Flatbed Truck, powered by a Chevrolet 490 engine, is one of only 20 Samson 3/4-ton trucks known to exist. It was restored and donated Warren Wedekind.

1919 Samson 1-1/4-Ton Flatbed Truck on August 3, 2008

This 1919 Samson 1-1/4-ton Flatbed Truck, serial number 8173, is one of only four 1-1/4-ton Samsons still in existence. It is powered by a Chevrolet Superior 4-cylinder engine.

1919 Samson 1-1/4-Ton Flatbed Truck on July 31, 2010

The original purchase price for this truck was $950 for the chassis only; bodies were added later according to customer needs as is done today. It was restored and donated by Warren Wedekind.

1920 Samson 3/4-Ton Flatbed Truck on August 3, 2008

This 1920 Samson 3/4-Ton Flatbed Truck is believed to be one of only 20 3/4-ton Samsons still in existence. It is powered by a 4-cylinder Chevrolet engine with a 3-speed transmission and originally cost $550. It was donated by Donald Stanley. In 1923, economic depression forced General Motors to close Samson. The same factory today makes GMC and Chevrolet vehicles and trucks.
