The 2010 Steam Up also featured a display of antique military vehicles and National Guard Appreciation.
1918 Class B Liberty Truck
The Class B Liberty Truck was first built in 1917 and was used in World War I. 15 different manufacturers built Liberty Trucks. This one, displayed by the Oregon Military Museum in Clackamas, Oregon was built August 27, 1918 and its manufacturer is unknown. It has a gross weight of 17,000 pounds, a payload of 6,000 pounds and a top speed of 14 miles per hour.
1942 M3A1 Stuart Light Tank
This 1942 M3A1 Stuart Light Tank was manufactured by American Car & Foundry of Berwick, Pennsylvania. It is one of 4,410 produced in 1942. With the development of more advanced tanks, the design was considered obsolete by 1943. It is powered by a 242-horsepower, 668-cubic-inch Continental W670-9A 7-cylinder radial engine. With a gross weight 28,515 pounds, the tank's fuel economy is 1.1 miles per gallon. Armament consists of one 37mm gun with 106 rounds, three .30 caliber machine guns with a combined 7,220 rounds, one .45 caliber Thompson submachine gun with 350 rounds & 12 hand grenades. The tank's 4-man crew consists of a commander, a loader/gunner, a driver & a bow gunner. This example is owned & was restored by Steve Greenberg of Wilsonville, Oregon.
1942 Ford GPW
This 1942 Ford GPW, owned by Chuck Walters & Steve Natta, was delivered on November 17, 1942 and was restored from September 2000 to November 2003.

1943 Dodge WC-56 3/4-Ton Command Car
This 1943 Dodge WC-56 3/4-Ton Command & Reconnaissance Car is owned by Mark, Sundi and Gunnar Sigrist of Sandy, OR. It is powered by a 92-horsepower 230-cubic-inch straight six and has a top speed of about 45 miles per hour.
The artwork and bumper numbers refer to the unit in which Mark’s father served during World War II: the 3rd Attack/Bomb Group; 90th Squadron in Australia & New Guinea in the southwest Pacific, flying B-25 Mitchell bombers. The group had several command cars like this one, which were used similarly to Jeeps.
During June and July of 2009, Mark and Gunnar drove this command car with 60 other historic military vehicles in the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's 2009 Transcontinental Motor Convoy along the original Lincoln Highway 5,200 miles from Washington DC to San Francisco, averaging 150 miles per day and recreating the first motorized military transcontinental convoy in the summer of 1919 with then-Lieutenant-Colonel Dwight Eisenhower.
1953 M41 Walker Bulldog Light Tank
The M41 was originally called the Little Bulldog. The name was changed to Walker Bulldog in honor of General W.W. Walker, who was killed in Korea in 1951. The tank carries a crew of four. It weighs 51,800 pounds fully loaded. The M41 was powered by a 500-horsepower Continental or Lycoming AOS 895-3 6-cylinder boxer gas engine with a CD 500-3 Cross Drive transmission. This one has a Continental engine.
The M41 could navigate a 60% slope, ford water 40-inches deep, climb over 28-inch walls and cross a 72-inch trench. It carried 140 gallons of fuel and had a top speed of 45 miles per hour and a range of 100 miles. Armament consisted of a 76mm M32 in combination mount M76 main gun along with .50 and .30 caliber machine guns. The tank carried 57 76mm rounds, 630 .50 caliber rounds, and 5000 .30 caliber rounds.
1953 M75 Armored Personnel Carrier
This 1953 International Harvester M75 Armored Personnel Carrier is owned by Mark & Norm Wiesner and was restored from 2006 to 2009.
1963 M116 Husky Cargo Carrier
This 1963 Blaw-Knox/Pacific Car & Foundry M116 Husky Amphibious Cargo Carrier is one of approximately 500 built and is owned by Jason Ball. It is powered by a 160-horsepower Chevrolet 283 V8 with a General Motors 305MC 4-speed automatic transmission. It has a top speed of 35 miles per hour on land and 4 miles per hour on water with a range of 220-260 miles on land and 22 miles on water.
