Across SW Main Street from the Portland Building and adjacent to Lownsdale Square is the Multnomah County Courthouse.

The original courthouse was built on this site in 1866, and this building which replaced it was completed in 1914. It was designed by Whidden and Lewis and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.
