Ben Snipes House on October 20, 2009
Ben Snipes had this Colonial Revival house built in 1867 for his bride, Mary Parrott. Ben Snipes was known as the Northwest Cattle King: he owned more cattle than any one else in the Pacific Northwest. At one point, he owned a herd estimated at 125,000 head and sometimes had a trail 800 miles long, ranging from the Yakima Valley to the Fraser River and Cariboo mines in British Columbia. He later moved to Ellensburg, Washington, and the state of Washington elected him to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The house is now Alan and Bev Eagy's Anzac Tea Parlour.
