The Sternwheeler Portland is not really part of the Rose Festival fleet, as it is a permanent fixture of the Portland waterfront, housing the Oregon Maritime Center & Museum.
The Portland is a steam-powered sternwheeler tugboat designed by the Port of Portland and built by the Northwest Marine Iron Works in 1947.
The Portland was built to assist ocean going ships in and out of the Portland harbor, a job she performed until her retirement in 1981. The Portland's wood paddlewheel is 25 feet in diameter and 26 feet wide.
The Portland is still steam powered and is maintained in fully operational condition, occasionally being steamed up.
