Meredith Building on December 16, 2006.
Next to the Catlin & Lynn Building is the Meredith Building, which was built in 1923 and is currently home to a locksmith. This was originally the site of a two-story feed and livery building that was part of the Jerman & Pugh’s Livery and Feed business in the late 1880s and 1890s. Frank and Emilia Meredith bought the property in 1921 and had this building constructed about two years later. It housed an automobile radiator repair shop in the mid-1920s. After Frank’s death in 1934, his children sold the building to long-time Salem merchant George E. Waters. It was occupied by Walton Brown Electric in the 1940s and 1950s.
