McCornack Block Addition on September 4, 2006
The two-story McCornack Block Addition next to the Reed Opera House was built in 1902 by E. P McCornack, proprietor of the Reed Opera House and president of the First National Bank of Salem. The McCornack Block Addition, the Reed Opera House, and a two-story addition on the south wall of the Reed Opera House became known collectively as the McCornack Block. The McCornack Block Addition was originally occupied by the Oregon Home Furnishing Company, which moved into the building in late 1902. Operation of the Oregon Home Furnishing Company was overseen by the McGilchirst family in the early 1910s, and in 1916 the company moved to the new McGilchrist Building.

In the late 1910s the W. W. Moore Furniture Company occupied the McCornack Block Addition. In 1921, H. R. Worth and H. E. Gray purchased Moore’s business and turned it into a dry goods and clothing store called the Worth and Gray Department Store. Worth bought out Gray in 1923, and the store became Worth’s Department Store. In 1936, Worth remodeled the building and added a mezzanine floor, and in 1938 it was considered one of the best equipped department stores in Salem. A beauty college occupied the second floor. From 1947 to 1956, the building was occupied by Robert's Brothers’ Department Store. The McCornack Block Addition was placed on the National Register of Historic Places with the Reed Opera House on March 8, 1978.
