LeBreton Cottage on June 23, 2007
LeBreton Cottage, also known as LeBreton Hall or the Administration Building, was designed by Salem architect Walter David Pugh in the Colonial Revival style and was built in 1908. This 23,184-square-foot building was built as an administration building and was also the girls’ dormitory in the facility’s early years.
Walter Pugh designed the original layout for the facility, which included this building, a male dormitory called Steel Cottage (since demolished), and a central boiler house and laundry. Future cottages would be arranged to form a crescent shape.
