Withycombe Cottage on June 23, 2007
Withycombe Cottage was designed by Albany architect Charles Henry Burggraf and was built in 1918. Burggraf designed four cottages (perhaps as early as 1909) for the facility, which were built between 1913 and 1918. This is apparently the last of the four to be built and is the only one of the four to survive. The other three (Steel Cottage, Benson Cottage and Jones Cottage) were demolished in the 1960s. This 19,611-square-foot Colonial Revival style building was originally constructed as a female dormitory.
