The Elephant House picnic shelter near the Rose Garden Children's Park was the original home of Rosy, the first elephant to live in Oregon. It is the only surviving structure from the Oregon Zoo's previous location.

Rosy came to Portland from Thailand in 1953 and her arrival helped generate support for the construction of the current zoo, which opened in 1959.
