The Hood River Post Office was located in the ground floor of the Masonic Hall at 210 Second Street from 1901 until this building opened in September 1935.

The cornerstone was placed in 1934 and carries the names of Secretary of the Treasury Henry Morgenthau, Jr., Postmaster General James A. Farley, Supervising Architect Louis A. Simon and Supervising Engineer George O. Von Nerta.

The Modernistic-style building was built by Hoffman Construction Company at a cost of $90,000.
