Moody House on October 20, 2009
This two-story Vernacular-style house was built around 1885 for Zenas Ferry Moody, his wife Mary and their five children and was one of several houses the Moody family owned.

As Surveyor General of Oregon, Moody established the Willamette Meridian and most of the township locations of eastern Oregon. He also operated a mercantile establishment, organized the Montana-Oregon-Idaho Transportation Company to get supplies to mines in Montana and established steamers above and below the Cascades.

In 1872, Moody was elected state senator from Wasco County, receiving both the Democratic and Republican nominations and he was Governor of Oregon from 1882 to 1886. He went on to found the city of Umatilla, Oregon. His son Malcolm Moody was a successful U.S. Congressman.
