Vogt Opera House on June 10, 2009
This two-story brick building was built in 1889 as the Vogt Opera House by German brothers Maximillian and Frank Vogt, who settled in The Dalles in the 1860s. Max operated a retail business with his sister Phillipine Chapman. The building burned down soon after it opened and was rebuilt, though it may never have been used as an opera house again. Today the building houses Morin Printing and is on the National Register of Historic Places.
